ABOUT METAMORPHOSIS

All human beings have great potential, but due to limiting beliefs that we have about our selves and lives, we experience blockages that prevent us from realising our full potentials.

These patterns can manifest in various ways - as a physical or mental illness, emotional problems, limiting attitudes or repeating patterns of behaviour. According to Australia-based kinesiologist Patricia Leahy-Shrewsbury, unfortunately, for many people, these underlying patterns are mostly unconscious.

In order to address these primary patterns, a much tried and tested method called Metamorphosis is used to transform the patterns. She says the simple technique brings about permanent change and it is an empowering tool for enabling people to let go of past limitations and move forward in their lives.

“Metamorphosis uses the spinal reflexes of the feet, hands and head and it is easy to learn and applied by just anybody,” she adds.

Robert St. John developed Metamorphosis in England in the 1960’s. A trained naturopath and reflexologist, St. John observed several things in his experience with the healing arts that influenced his approach.

While working with naturopathic medicine St. John recognised most healing approaches were based on treating symptoms. While the symptoms usually went away, he noticed that they often returned or people experienced new symptoms, because the underlying patterns of stress causing the symptoms were not addressed.

As time passed, he discovered that he could bring about significant changes by applying a light touch to particular points on the feet that reflexologists call the spinal reflexes. Later, he realised that everyone has their own capacity for self-healing and that, if he allowed it to become fully active whilst practising, then his patients would be empowered to be their own healers in a truly effective way.

Patricia says metamorphosis generally is for everyone because it addresses all causal patterns of stress. “It is most beneficial for children with learning disabilities like autism and Down’s Syndrome. Mental handicap and brain damage are both conditions that have been known to change considerably, especially with children as their patterns are not yet fixed as those of adults,” she says.

She adds that Robert St John applied the technique on his daughter, who was born with Down’s Syndrome, and she lost some of the distinctive features associated with her condition. Subsequently she completed high school and proceeded to hold a job.

Metamorphosis is also useful for midwives and expectant mothers as it addresses the unborn baby's patterns while still in the womb. It allows the mother to have an easier labour and delivery and it also gives the little one a head start to a healthier life.

For those with addictions, Metamorphosis helps them to come into better balance so that they no longer compulsively feel the need to engage in activities that are not in alignment with their well-being.

“Essentially, Metamorphosis addresses blocks that inhibit our creativity and vitality and helps us to enhance our relationships with others so that we become more attuned to our inner guidance, giving us the sense of what direction to take,” Patricia says.

Patricia, who learnt the technique from Robert St John years ago, will be in Kuala Lumpur to conduct a two-day workshop in June. For enquiries, please call 013-3612755 or email: meeyuen@myaquarianage.com
